I would recommend this place to anyone. The campgrounds are not on top of each other. The camp host walks around the area and makes sure nothing is getting out of hand. I felt safe, as I was there by myself at the time. I have been coming here for the last 10 yrs and will continue to do so.

First off let me state that I have been going to Monument Valley for about 20 yrs camping at Mitten Campground, it is my place of Zen. I try to make a trip out there at least once a year. This last April I had planned my vacation around the full moon and thought, wow, what better place to be with the awesome view and my tent. I was terribly disappointed and to my surprise, that when I took that right turn, all the craft booths were gone. When I got to the booth to pay the fee to enter the park, there was a lot of cars where the campground used to be. Upon exiting my vehicle, I saw that they are now building a good size hotel there. I could not believe it!! There were about 6 tour busses there and the visitor center was being remodeled, so it was very crowded and busy. The only thing that I could think of was that the Navajo's sold out to corporate America. A place that used to be a wonderful spot to be, has now turned into a HUGE tourist trap. The only consolation that I can give myself is that I am so glad that I got the chance to enjoy the place as it once was. I am sorry to say that I will not be returning and would rather keep the old photos and memories that I have from previous trips.

Very crowded. I wish they had more open campground spaces with trees, looks like they turned the old open area campground into group camping.
